This book, with beautiful photographs by Bruce Pendleton, is the first and only publication to show and tell exactly what Kentucky rifles are all about. It describes the conditions which lead to the development of the uniquely American weapon and goes on to show the art and craft which developed independently in the little towns and villages of Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and North Carolina. Much of the beauty of the old guns lies in the subtlety of the relief carving and in the fineness of the engraving of the brass patch boxes and the silver inlays. The patina which the maple stock acquired over two centuries is impossible to describe without the fine large size color illustrations showing important distinguishing details, which this book contains.

There are 14 “Schools” represented and a total of 77 rifles and some pistols shown in precise detail and exact color. Printed in 1972 – 105 pages – Hard Bound with dust cover. Condition: Very Good.
