The study of German Target arms is a vast and little understood subject. This is the first book printed on the subject in over 80 years! It was originally started by Jesse Thompson and completed by Tom Rowe, C. Ron Dillon, Allen Hallock and Bill Loos. This is volume one of a proposed three volume set. Subjects covered in this book are the early history of German target shooting from the middle ages to just before World War II, as well as the early rifles from matchlock to percussion. Also covered are the Bundesschiessen (state or national shoots) and associated memorabilia and the Aydt, Bader, Bornmuller and Buchel Schutzen rifles.
